Helping Young Dancers Deal with Pandemic Stress

Ok. The one year anniversary of the pandemic has come and gone, and some things are getting back to normal-ish, but mostly, things still just feel weird.

Which is why I’m sharing this BrainDance I put together about a year ago that focuses on helping young dancers cope with big feelings, stress, and the general weirdness of these times.

This is a great movement sequence to use to get class started (either in person or virtually), or to cool down or as a brain break mid class. You can also encourage dancers to go through this sequence before bed, or in moments of stress. To engage all senses while kids are moving, you can play some calming music, light a candle or get your diffuser going; it all adds to calming the whole body, and encourages dancers to tune into their mind / body connections.
