Help Dancers Befriend Their Bodies at Body Kind Valentine Week!

Does the term ‘befriend your body’ make you scoff? If you’re a dancer or dance educator, it probably does. It might sound nice, but also unrealistic. The dance world is full of habits, practices, and messaging that bodies vehicles for training, perfection, and technique, not something that you befriend. Dancers spend so much time training, and willing their bodies into ballet, and dance standards, that we often don’t even think of our bodies as someone we know, much less a friend.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. In fact, I’m on a mission to change that.

I believe dance should leave dancers better than it found them, not worse. I believe dance is for anybody who has a body, and that we are more than our reflections in the mirror.

If you want to help your dancers have a happier and healthier relationship with their bodies. If you want to be a part of a generation of teachers that normalizes healthy eating, rest and time off, and inclusion. If you wish you had someone in your dance life to talk to about negative body image, poor self talk, and how to manage it all.

Then I want to invite you to some special, free events happening Feb 14-18.

It’s Body Kind Valentine Week!

Each day at 12pm EST from Feb 14-18, I’ll be going live on Instagram to talk with dance wellness experts about ways educators can bring body kindness into their classrooms.

We’ll talk about:

  • nutrition

  • safe training

  • mindset

  • negative body image

And lots more! Since these interview and trainings will be happening on Instagram, it’s all free! (And since we believe that artists and educators should be paid for their time and work, you can donate here to support the experts who are sharing their time and expertise with us.)

Mark your calendars, and make sure you’re following me on Instagram to make sure you don’t miss out!
