How To Get a Body You Love

how to have a body you love

Let’s cut right to the chase:

The holidays can make it hard to love your body - whether you identify as a dancer or not.

There’s cookies and drinks and feasts galore, family and friends asking awkward and nosy questions, and if you are a dancer, or a dance educator, you have the grind of rehearsals and performances wearing you out mentally and physically.

So how can you get a body you love, during the holidays, and beyond?

Two words: gratitude and affirmations.

Gratitude is the quickest, most sure fire way to give yourself an attitude adjustment about, well, anything really, including your body.

Hate your thighs? Try - my legs are strong and take me where I need to go.

Dread wearing boots because your calves are ‘too big’? How about - my shoes and clothing fit me perfectly and make me feel good.

The shift is dramatic, right?

That’s why I created my Affirmation Advent Calendar for dance educators and their students. There’s 31 days of affirmations to keep thoughts right and bright during this busy season. And even though December has begun, and yes, your performances for the season may be over, you can use these affirmations at any time of the year. In fact, starting a new year with them is a great way to get off on a positive foot!

Grab your copy of the affirmations with the button above - it also includes a page of tips and suggestions on how to use affirmations in your classes and with your dancers, as well as a growth mindset cootie catcher game!

I hope this simple action gives you and your dancers some light bulb moments for how to appreciate and cultivate respect for our bodies - the vessels that do so much for us! Happy Dancing!
