Free Resources for a Dance Studio Crisis

COVID-19 Free Resources for Dance Studios

Ooooh-eee my friends. The past few weeks have been a doozy, am I right? If the COVID-19 crisis has thrown you, your dance business, and your family for a loop, you’re not alone.

One of my favorite teachers, Glennon Doyle, has this to say about times of crisis.

“Crisis means to sift. Let it all fall away and you'll be left with what really matters.”

And she’s so right. I understand all the anxiety, fear and worry going on in our communities, and world, right now, I’m also choosing to see these recent events as opportunities for us to find what really matters, to step up and be part of the solution, rather than feed into the problems.

I’m so very proud of how our dance industry and community have conducted ourselves over the past week. I’ve seen so many educators offer help, support, ideas and resources to each other as we try and navigate how to keep our lives, livelihoods, and the safety and well being of our students on track.

I want to do my part as well. Below you’ll find several free resources you can use with your students if your school has decided to close. It’s my hope that these materials can be used to supplement and support you, and your dancers continuing education while we take time away from physically being in the studio.

Here’s a download for dance concept coloring pages you can use with young dancers.

I’ve made my Dance Studio BodyPosi Challenge available as a condensed, free, 3 day workshop. If you’ve been curious about how to bring body positivity into your classes and studio, this is the place to start.

Growth mindset in dance is vital to a long and healthy career. These worksheets are a great thing for your tween, teen, and even adult dancers to use.

Give your dancers easy to follow warm ups and cool downs with this playlist of BrainDances.

I’ve also made a BrainDance specifically to address anxiety and stress for young dancers. Pair this movement sequence by engaging all of your senses: play some soft music, get a diffuser or candle going, and maybe have a tasty treat after you finish the video.

And here’s another warm up that’s great for littles that gets them relaxed, focused, and ready to dance.

Moving Mantras are a tool you’ll find in the Dance Studio BodyPosi Challenge as well. These are short, easy and gentle movements combined with positive affirmations, and totally transformational.

We’ll get through this my friends. We are a community of strong, capable and generous teachers and business owners, and support is all around us. I hope you find these resources useful and helpful - I’d love to see how you and your students are using them during this time! Come find me over on Instagram or Facebook and let me know how you’re getting on. Sending you all my love!
