The #1 Mistake You CAN’T Make Before You Re-open Your Studio

Across the world, dance studios are starting to see glimmers of hope.

re-opening dance studios after covid

We’ve adapted in remarkable ways, and been unrelenting in our commitment to continuing to provide dance classes for our students (Insert standing ovation here), and now, as studios begin to re-open, as classes are taken to parks and parking lots, and even as studios and teachers make plans to make the best of continued virtual classes come the fall months, our minds are filled with both excitement and anxiety.

Excited to finally get back to normal, and anxious at the thought of all the contingencies we still may have to plan for.

This mingling of excitement, possibilities, and fear makes for what my husband likes to call Soup Sandwich.

Meaning, that there’s a whole lot of potential mess. ;)

To avoid that mess, there’s one, big mistake that you want to avoid as you re-open your studio, or plan for the fall…

The #1 mistake would be going back to the same systems and methods that you were using to run your studio and life before COVID shut you down.

I talked about this on Instagram, and I’ll continue to stick to my guns on this topic. We have to meet our students where they are; this means adjusting our traditional class structure (and our expectations) in the name of supporting our students during this stressful time.

You won’t be going back to the same studio, students, and staff, so why would you try to use the same systems and methods to teach and manage your studio, classes and life?

Don’t make the mistake of thinking going back will be business as usual. This is a whole new world we’re dealing with; you need a whole new set of systems if you’re going to succeed.

Studies are showing that there are dramatic effects on kids and teens from dealing with the stress of COVID. What better place to give students the help they need than in the dance classroom? But that means a new way of approaching classes, adjusting your own expectations, and new ways of centering your business on the holistic well being of your dancers, staff, and yes, even yourself.

That’s why I created my Thrive Guide 30 Day Program. It’s 30 days of one-on-one work and guidance from me to set you up with the tools, strategies and resources you for success at the studio.

You can expect:

  • 30 days of personalized coaching from me to get you and your business organized and aligned for the future

  • Guidance in creating systems and that will support your dancers and staff

  • Help in implementing habits that will finally let you prioritize your own well being

  • Understanding on why boundaries you’ve set in the past haven’t worked (so you can go in to the fall with a solid plan for how to balance work and life)

  • A clear communication plan to use with staff, students, and parents

All of this is info I only share with my one-on-one coaching clients, and it means that you won’t get stuck as you plan and organize for summer and fall.

If you’re thinking you can head back to the studio like after any other break, you’re going to hit a wall and get stuck. Your students will hit a wall and get stuck. Your staff will hit a wall and get stuck. Dance parents will get frustrated and chase you down.

I don’t want that for you! There’s a better way, and I’d love to let you in on the strategies and tools that have made my own studio successful and my own life less stressful and more joyful.

There are limited spaces available for this 30 day program and we start now (no really, we start July 1), so this is your last chance to get in on this program! Click here to set up a quick call with me and learn more!

I want all the success for you as the world moves forward, so even if we don’t work together this time, here’s some great resources you can use that will guide you towards holistic dance education. You’ve got this!
